Dermalux Medical Light Therapy
We love LED Light Therapy at ME. We’ve been working with LED for over 15 years, and in that time it has become a fundamental part of how we approach skin health. It’s why you’ll find it included in most of our skin treatments as a non-negotiable. Completely non-invasive, pain-free and with no downtime, LED works with the skin’s natural processes to support repair, regeneration and overall skin function.
We use the Dermalux Tri-Wave MD, an award-winning medical-grade LED system and the most powerful professional LED device in the world. While it works beautifully alongside other treatments, LED is also an incredibly effective treatment in its own right.
LED can be used to support concerns including acne, inflammation, redness, compromised skin, wound healing and signs of skin ageing, as well as improving hydration, texture and overall skin health.
Dermalux Tri-Wave MD is medically certified for the treatment of acne, psoriasis and wound healing, as well as musculoskeletal pain relief.
The Science behind the Light
Our skin health, and ultimately how well our skin repairs and regenerates, starts with healthy cellular function. LED Phototherapy uses specific clinically validated wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light, which are absorbed by specialised targets within our cells called chromophores.
This process, known as photobiomodulation, converts light into cellular energy and influences how our cells function. It can help increase ATP production, regulate inflammation, support repair and regeneration, improve microcirculation and encourage collagen production.
What we particularly love about LED is that it works with the skin rather than creating injury or trauma to stimulate a response. By supporting the biological processes already taking place within the skin, it helps create an environment where the skin can repair, regulate and function more effectively.

Your Treatment Plan
No two skins are the same, which is why your LED treatment will always be selected around your skin and what it needs at that time. Dermalux Tri-Wave MD allows us to use specific wavelengths, or combinations of wavelengths, to target different cellular responses.
You may see and feel a difference after just one treatment, particularly in hydration, redness and overall skin appearance, but the real benefits of LED are cumulative. For general skin health, we usually recommend weekly treatments, while more problematic or compromised skins may benefit from two treatments per week as part of a tailored course.

This depends on your skin and what we are treating. For general skin health, we usually recommend weekly treatments, while problematic or compromised skin may benefit from two treatments per week as part of an initial course. We’ll advise you on the best frequency for your skin.
-
You may notice an improvement after your first session, particularly in how calm, hydrated and glowing your skin appears. However, LED works at a cellular level and its benefits are cumulative, so a course of regular treatments is recommended when we are working on a specific concern.
-
That depends entirely on your skin. Dermalux Tri-Wave MD gives us access to Blue 415nm, Red 633nm and Near-Infrared 830nm light, which can be used individually or in combination. We select your protocol and output based on your skin and what we want to achieve.
-
Absolutely. In fact, LED is a fundamental part of many of our skin treatments at ME. It works beautifully alongside other modalities to support the skin, calm inflammation and encourage recovery, which is why we consider it a non-negotiable within many of our treatment protocols.
-
There are certain medical conditions, medications and circumstances where LED may not be appropriate. We will go through these with you before treatment, so it’s important to tell us about any medical conditions, medications or recent changes to your health before your appointment.
Please also let us know if you are particularly sensitive to bright lights, experience light-induced headaches or migraines, or feel claustrophobic in enclosed spaces. The LED canopy sits relatively close to the face, so we want to make sure you feel completely comfortable throughout your treatment. If you’re unsure whether LED is suitable for you, just get in touch with us before booking.
-
Yes. For your LED treatment, we recommend arriving with clean, makeup-free skin where possible. Makeup, SPF and skincare will be removed before treatment so the skin is clean and unobstructed during your LED session.

Yes. There is no downtime following standalone LED Light Therapy, so makeup can be applied afterwards if needed. However, if you can, we always prefer to leave the skin fresh and makeup-free following your treatment.
If your LED has been combined with another skin treatment, your therapist will advise you on the appropriate aftercare, as this may be different.
